I am originally from Millersville, Maryland and went to Old Mill High School (between Baltimore and Washington D.C.). I received my B.A. in Mathematics from Kenyon College and my M.S. and Ph.D. are in Mathematics from Montana State University (MSU). Before moving to Vassar, I was a postdoc at Smith College for two years. Altogether, I have lived in Maryland, Ohio, Montana, Massachusetts, and now New York (not the city). The photos are from local areas of the beautiful places I have lived. My personal interests include:
- Spending time outside - I gained a huge appreciation of the outdoors when I lived in Montana. Trail running and skiing were hobbies I picked up while living there. I enjoy all types of running and have ran some ultra trail races (50K - 100 miles).
- Art - I have been drawing since I was a kid and also enjoy watercolors and pottery.
- Reading - My favorite simple pleasure is reading while drinking a big cup of tea.
My mom took the photo of the blue heron, and Allison Rognlie took the photo of the great gray owl (look at those feet!). I took the other photos.
